Paper rosettes are simple to make and can be used to make a variety of different items. I glued mine on to styrofoam balls to make a fun spring decoration for my mantel. I have also seen people make wreaths, floral arrangements, and topiaries with these rosettes.
Materials- Cardstock
- Scissors
- Pen or Pencil
- a Glass to trace
- Hot Glue Gun
- 4" Styrofoam Ball (if making a rosette ball)
Begin by drawing a circle on the backside of a piece of cardstock. It does not have to be perfect, but the next steps will be easier if the you trace a round glass or bowl. The larger the circle the bigger the rosette.
Using a scissors cut out your circle. Next, starting at the outside and working your way in, cut a spiral out of the circle. Try to keep the spiral the same width throughout. This will make rolling the rosette easier.
Starting at the outside of the spiral begin rolling the paper as tight as you can. Make sure to keep the inside edge of the spiral aligned at all times. You can experiment with rolling the pattern of the paper on the inside or the outside. I preferred to have my pattern on the inside of the roll unlike the picture below.
When you reach the end of the paper let the spiral unroll slightly and your rosette should form. You can play with how tight your want the rosette to be by allowing the paper to unroll more or less. Once you have the rosette how you would like, place a dab of hot glue on the bottom flap of the rosette to hold it in place.
If you would like you can glue your rosette on to a styrofoam ball or wreath form and repeat the steps above until your form is covered.
